Villanueva's Upholstery has been San Juan's family upholstery shop since 1975 — when a young upholsterer from Reynosa set up his first frame and refused to cut a corner. Fifty years later, the second and third generations of the Villanueva family carry on that same standard, restoring furniture, cars, and boats for families and businesses across the Rio Grande Valley.

How much does it cost to reupholster a couch?
The cost depends on the size of the piece, the fabric or leather you choose, and the condition of the frame and cushions. At Villanueva's Upholstery we give free, no-obligation quotes, so you'll know the price before any work begins — just bring your piece by or send us photos.
Do you reupholster car and truck seats?
Yes. We've done automotive interiors for over 50 years — seats, headliners, door panels, and convertible tops — including antique and classic cars. We're known across San Juan, McAllen, and the Rio Grande Valley for matching new leather to a vehicle's original look.
Do you work on boats and marine upholstery?
Yes. We rebuild boat seating, cushions, and covers using weather-tough, water-resistant materials made to hold up to sun and salt. We serve boat owners throughout the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas.
Can you match my existing fabric or leather?
In most cases, yes. We work to match the color, grain, and style of your original material as closely as possible — customers frequently tell us they're amazed how well the new work blends with the original.
Do you do commercial upholstery?
Yes. We handle commercial seating at volume — restaurant banquettes and booths, church pews, theater seating, office furniture, and bus and transit seating — with durable commercial-grade materials and quick turnaround across the Valley.
Is it worth reupholstering instead of buying new?
Often, yes — especially for well-built or sentimental pieces. Quality older furniture usually has a sturdier frame than new furniture, and reupholstering lets you restore it with materials you choose, often for less than a comparable new piece. Do I provide the fabric, or do you?
Either works. We carry a wide range of fabrics and leathers to choose from, or you're welcome to bring your own. We'll help you pick something that fits your budget and how the piece will be used.
